jevarus howard, best man for the job

Jevarus Howard is the Democratic candidate running for County Council in District 19.  He’s passionate, committed, and knows what it takes to be a true leader.  He is hands down the best man for the job. And when elected, he will be the youngest person on County Council today, bringing a new and fresh perspective to the table.

Howard has a long list of qualifications that make him such a great candidate. He is an entrepreneur and small business owner, a father, a combat veteran, and a community advocate. He has spent most of his life dedicated to service.  And above all, he is dedicated to his community that he also calls his home.

Howard grew up in Greenville, attending both Hughes Academy and South Side High School before leaving for North Carolina. After high school, he joined the US Army, a decision that he still stands by as one of the best in his life. He deployed twice, once to Korea and once to Afghanistan, where he served in direct combat.  He is still serving in the Reserves, continuing his dedication to his unit and country.

Howard studied both marketing and advertising along the way. He used that knowledge along with his leadership skills learned from the military to start his first business in Greenville. He saw an opportunity and took a chance, proving that he is not afraid of a challenge. Since moving with his family back to Greenville and starting his company, Howard has been very involved in the local business community. As a small business owner in District 19, he appreciates and goes out of his way to support other small businesses in the district. In his words, “I live in this community, I worship in this community, and my family is here.”

Howard is very focused on bringing change to District 19. He is ready to provide real representation and a voice for everyone. The people of the district need someone who is willing to listen to them and support them. Jevarus Howard is that person. He will not back down or fail to show up; it just isn’t in his nature. He has been trained to never leave a man behind, and that is exactly what he will do. Howard also serves on the Board of Directors for the Greenville Area Development Corporation (GADC). He says this “allows him to be a community liaison for schools and local businesses,” furthering his deep commitment to District 19 and local business owners.

Howard is determined to bring some of the growth that so much of Greenville County has seen lately into District 19. “There has been phenomenal growth in areas around Berea, but not in it. It has gone without a voice for too long.” He emphasizes repeatedly throughout his campaign that is it not about him. He decided to run because he “felt that he brought something to the table. It wasn’t about me, but I feel like I’m great at networking. I love the community so much; I would love to go to work for it.”

When elected, Jevarus Howard will make sure to fight for everyone in his community regardless of party, race, or any other dividing characteristic. He is committed to being a voice for all, and he is not afraid of a challenge. He has personal ties to the community, extensive leadership experience, and a history of service and dedication. He served his country; now he wants to serve County Council District 19.  He is the man to do it.
