The Issues
What is a State House Representative? Excerpt from House.gov, "Among other duties, representatives introduce bills and resolutions, offer amendments and serve on committees."..
My commitment is simple - to do what the elected position calls for. Constituents choose a leader who volunteers to be committed, attentive and dedicated. This is no small challenge, I am committed to meeting the demands of this challenge. This means bringing in new ideas, being present and TAKING ACTION.
The hard work necessary for 19 can lay a blue print for all of South Carolina.
Here are some other areas help and change are needed.
Our Local Transportation - Roads - Bike Lanes: As it stands our local transportation system needs work. Many thought the fight was moving forward once funding conversations began to pick up regarding our public school transportation system. I especially was excited because I knew the low conditions my children's school bus was in first hand. Though there is still work to be done there, it's unfortunate this didn't do much for the thousands that rely on our public transit system. I want to allow us to have a voice at the drawing board to create strategy on enhancing our bus system and our other transit alternatives. I believe a champion at the table to fight for road corrections, street lights and our proud bike areas is more than necessary.
Our Community Growth & Economic Development: In all my years of operating my small businesses here in Greenville I've gained expertise in connecting consumers to suppliers. I've learned that not one ounce of supply moves without great people to connect and deliver that product or supply. Any business professional will tell you a good business requires good people. Here's the reality, good business is here in Greenville and more is coming. And to be frank, I can't think of a greater group of people to build that business than the people of District 19. I want to ensure that happens. I want to ensure solid relationships with small or large businesses are kept to make sure our communities members are being employed and growing with the business. I want to make sure these same businesses pour back into our communities to ensure the people and where they reside flourish with the growth.
Neighborhood Safety: Greenville is growing by the day! An exciting place to live, work, and raise a family for sure. It is critical we ensure our local law enforcement have what they need to see thriving safe communities. I want to work with community leadership, crime prevention groups, and law enforcement to make sure we enforce our stance on maintaining a SAFE community for us all. There are great people in our community and I want them all to benefit from where we are going. I won't skip over this important factor and I'm not afraid to roll up my sleeves to work towards a solution that will keep our families, belongings and area safe!
Fairness for All & A Voice: Hearing past discussions on local issues, seeing flip flop votes on areas that effect us all in the past have made me ask myself, "Who really represents the voice of District 19". I believe it's time for someone to be held accountable for our communities issues and concerns. I believe it's time to promote leadership and expand on great ideas that enhance our areas. Issues such as fair policing & neighborhood safety, community growth, even lighting up our White Horse Road and finding our missing sidewalks are all concerns the citizens of District 19 have voiced. I want to connect with other leaders and take action on these topics. Not only these, but when issues arise it's your elected officials who should respond. They should respond by listening to your concerns and working diligently to find solutions.

- CHAMPION OF BETTER EDUCATION & COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT: Recent events have shown us more than ever how important it is to have our youth in an A+ education system. With the right policy adjustments, allocation of funds and investment in our schools system - this CAN be accomplished. As a federal staff member, JeVarus took a lead role in budget allocation, staff reorganization and manpower - proving he is the guy for the job.
- SMALL BUSINESS: With experience in building deep rooted local businesses within the State, you learn to cherish conversations with fellow small business owners. You hear stories of success and losses, families and struggles within the business community. Your teeth sometimes grind knowing there are very small adjustments that could be made to ensure more paths to success in SC. It is clear we need more leadership assisting with our budgeting, veterans programs, history perseverance, and economic development. Focus to critical help within this community that we have seen take the hardest hit first when issues arise. In JeVarus, our small business community will get a champion and support programs necessary to keep the small business community healthy and thriving.
- ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT: With the climate surrounding politics today it's imperative proven leaders stand up and unite. It's critical for community leaders to take a call of action and work out real issues with a togetherness front. Working within SC legislator goals that not just benefit the great community of District 19 but SC overall needs a champion. JeVarus has done just that, in small business, in communities and in the US Armed Forces. I understand that there are leaders within our community already, religious leaders, community leaders, business leaders, it's time for a united leadership. It's time for a direct impact to ensure areas like District 19 experience managed growth and a responsible decision maker that things of every residence before voting.
